Professional Experience
Catarina has been advising medium-to-large businesses in the provision of taxation and business consulting services.
Catarina developed most of its professional career in a Big 4 environment, therefore benefiting from all the experience, knowledge and accumulated best practices.
Since joining Nexia Santos Carvalho & Associados, Catarina is also part of several tax specialized groups within Nexia International. In addition, she recurrently provides training (internally in the firm/network or externally) and writes articles in the (social) media or in specialized technical publications.
Catarina has also received from external entities some important distinctions. She has been awarded recently Expert Witness and Corporate Tax Expert by the Who’s Who Legal, Rising Star by the Legal Media Group and Tax Consultantof the Year – Portugal (2017/2018) by the Corporate Livewire.
Catarina´s experience and merit has also been recognized, by being appointed as a tax arbitrator in the Administrative and Tax Arbitrage Court in Portugal.

- Member of the Portuguese Tax Association (AFP) and International Fiscal Association (IFA)
- Master Executive in Taxation and Tax Planning, by Universidade Católica Portuguesa
- Certified Statutory Auditor, by the Portuguese Institute of Statutory Auditors (Ordem dos Revisores Oficiais de Contas)
- Certified Statutory Accountant, by Ordem dos Contabilistas Certificados (CC)
- Degree in Economics, by Universidade do Porto
